Our centre has a comprehensive range of manufacturing technologies, from
the very fundamental such as lathe turning and foundry work to the state-of-the-art
laser processing and rapid prototyping. These materials and process technologies
play a vital role in manufacturing; in most cases they are the very cornerstones
on which the quality of factory output rests.
The Centre's key product development strength is:
- Rapid Product Development
- Machining and Metrology
- Electronic circuits design
- Surface Finishing
- Sheet Metal Works
Staffs and students participate actively in 3D computer modeling, reverse
engineering, rapid prototyping & tooling, electronic prototyping,
CNC coordinate measuring and laser processing.
All these advanced technologies are backup by our engineering foundation
on design and make of mold & die, plastic injection and compression
molding, die-casting, spin casting, foundry work, forging, heat treatment,
welding, press tool work, photo-chemical machining, and a wide variety
of surface treatment processes including electroplating, anodizing and
vacuum coating.
The resources of the Centre are centrally located and linked up by advanced
data network. Video conference and global virtual collaboration make our
strength accessible around the world, enable us to deliver high quality
training, conduct applied research, provide services and consultancy to
industry.
